Bridgford, Gleason & Artinian settles another copper pipe leak class action; first for Yorba Linda

Posted on 10/16/17 News

News Release – Bridgford Gleason & Artinian has settled its third class action in Orange County involving copper pipe leaks, this time on behalf of 40 single family homeowners who live in the Kerrigan Ranch development in Yorba Linda that were developed by Woodbridge after August 20, 2004. Orange County Superior Court Judge Thierry Colow approved the settlement of just under $1 million on October 13, which gives each household a total of up to $18,500 toward repairs.

“This is our third settlement in Orange County and the first one in Yorba Linda,” said Richard K. Bridgford, lead attorney in all 15 copper pipe class action cases before Judge Colaw. “We continue to be pleased that the legal system recognizes that our clients deserve justice. No one should have to live in a home with leaky copper pipes.”

Bridgford settled this case before he obtained class certification in the first of 15 related cases before Judge Colaw earlier this year. This settlement in Yorba Linda is one of two Yorba Linda cases – the other one is against Pulte. The other related cases are for homes in Ladera Ranch and San Clemente – all with the same issue of copper pipes that corrode and/or leak.

Richard Bridgford and Michael Artinian are lead counsel in Wang v. Woodbridge and have the support of the legal teams of Brian S. Kabateck and Richard L. Kellner of Kabateck Brown & Kellner LLP and John Patrick McNicholas of McNicholas & McNicholas LLP.
