Richard Bridgford and Michael Artinian were quoted in the Daily Journal on October 15th in a story about 450 homeowners in Orange County that reached a $7 million settlement with Williams Lyon Homes Inc. stemming from a class action lawsuit filed over claims of defective copper pipes.
Bridgford, whose firm is lead counsel on the class action said, “This is the type of class action in which you feel very good about getting a recovery because homeowners experienced significant damage to their most valuable investment. William Lyon Homes are to be commended for behaving as good corporate citizens, because defects will occur in homes, and they responded by taking care of their customers.”
Based on this settlement, condo owners will get $11,700 and single family owners will each receive $14,860 and can elect to have the dwelling repiped or have the current copper fittings coated to prevent future leaks or corrosion.
The firm has 12 other suits active in Orange County regarding defective copper pipes in about 2,500 homes in Ladera Ranch, San Clemente and Yorba Linda.
